Everything you'd want to know before we start working together — process, pricing, AI development, and ownership.
Working Together
How do we get started?
Fill out the contact form or email hello@krishivlabs.com with a brief description of your project. We'll schedule a free 30-min discovery call to understand your goals, discuss the right approach, and share a written proposal with scope and pricing. Most projects kick off within a week of the proposal being accepted.
How long does a typical project take?
It depends on scope. A production fix typically takes 3–7 days. Adding an AI feature to an existing product is usually 2–4 weeks. A full RAG chatbot build is 3–5 weeks. A complete AI-first product from scratch runs 6–12 weeks. We give you a realistic timeline estimate in the proposal, and we stick to it.
Do you work with startups or only enterprises?
Both. Startups are actually a great fit — we move fast, don't over-engineer, and care about shipping something that works. Our minimum project size is $1,500. We've worked with solo founders, Series A startups, and established companies across legal tech, e-commerce, consulting, and more.
What's your communication style?
Async-first. Most day-to-day communication happens over Slack or email — you'll get written updates as we hit milestones, not time-consuming status meetings. We schedule video syncs at the start of a project, at key decision points, and at handoff. You're never in the dark, and you never have to chase us for updates.
AI Development
What AI models do you work with?
We're model-agnostic and use whatever's best for your use case. Our most common choices are Claude (Anthropic) for reasoning and document tasks, GPT-4o (OpenAI) for multimodal and general tasks, Gemini for Google Workspace integrations, and Mistral or Llama via Groq/Ollama when cost or privacy is a constraint. We don't have vendor relationships that bias our recommendations.
What is RAG and do I need it?
RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) is a technique that lets an LLM answer questions using your specific documents or data — rather than just its training data. It's the right choice when you need accurate, grounded answers from internal content (manuals, contracts, support docs, product catalogs). You don't need RAG for general-purpose tasks or when your use case doesn't require referencing specific documents. We'll tell you honestly if a simpler approach works better.
Can you work with my existing codebase?
Yes. We're stack-agnostic and regularly jump into unfamiliar codebases. We'll spend the first day doing a structured codebase review before writing a single line. We also flag any technical debt or architectural issues we notice upfront — it's part of how we work, not an upsell.
Do I need to provide training data?
For RAG systems: you provide the documents (PDFs, databases, Notion exports, etc.) and we build the pipeline that processes them. No data labeling required. For fine-tuning: you'd need labeled examples, but fine-tuning is rarely the right approach for most use cases — RAG is faster to build, easier to update, and cheaper to maintain. We'll recommend fine-tuning only when it's actually worth it.
Pricing & Logistics
Do you offer fixed-price or hourly billing?
Fixed price for all defined-scope projects. You know exactly what you're paying before we start. For ongoing retainer engagements, we bill a fixed monthly fee for a defined hour bucket (40h/month). No timesheets, no hour-counting anxiety.
What if the scope changes mid-project?
We agree on scope in writing before we start. If something changes — you discover a new requirement, the spec evolves, or a new idea emerges — we discuss it, scope the delta, agree on the additional cost (if any), and continue. Nothing gets added to the bill without your explicit sign-off.
Who owns the code when we're done?
You own 100% of everything we deliver — all source code, assets, documentation, and any IP created during the project. We retain no license, rights, or access after handoff unless you want us to maintain it on a retainer.
Do you sign NDAs?
Yes. A standard mutual NDA is available and we'll sign it before any sensitive conversations. Just mention it in your first email and we'll have it to you within 24 hours.
